The schedule below from the 2023 program may serve as an example for the 2024 program. Information will be updated in the new year.
We are excited to welcome your son to NSU’s campus for this year’s session of Louisiana Boys State.
Please help make sure he packs appropriately; feel free to share our livestreaming schedule with friends and family; and if your son is applying for the Samsung American Legion Scholarship, note that it is due prior to registration on Day 1.
You should also review information about the Capitol Program and Awards Convocation – which you are invited to attend – as well as departure from the program.

Arrival and Registration for the 2023 Program
- Registration is from 8:30-10:30 am on Sunday, June 25 at the H&HP Gymnasium (170 Tarlton Dr, Natchitoches, LA) at Northwestern State University.
- Upon arrival at NSU, all students transfer their own luggage from vehicles to registration to apartments. Unless otherwise noted as a needed physical accommodation, there is not available staff to assist in carrying belongings.
- Arriving by bus (American Legion Districts 2 and 6)
- Buses pick up students at designated locations and drop off students at NSU at their coordinated times. If you are not aware of your pickup locations, please reach out to your American Legion representative immediately.
- Students will unload luggage from buses and proceed through registration in the H&HP Gymnasium.
- Parent drop-off
- Enter NSU’s campus at the Tarlton Drive entrance.
- Follow as directed by NSU police and staff to the designated parking area north of H&HP.This is a drop-off only. Parents should stay in vehicles.
- Students must bring all their belongings into H&HP. There will not be an opportunity to return to parent vehicles.
- Self-driving students
- Enter NSU’s campus at the Tarlton Drive entrance.
- Drive to the University Columns Apartments as directed by NSU police and staff – enter the front gates. You will be directed to make an immediate right turn to the back of the property and the appropriate parking area.Boys State Counselors will direct students to the registration area in H&HP.Students will leave luggage in their cars until after they have registered. They will return to vehicles to retrieve belongings prior to moving into their rooms for the week.
- All students who drive themselves to the program must check-in their car keys with Boys State staff after unloading their belongings. Driving during the week is not allowed. Keys will be returned prior to departure on Saturday, July 1.
